Oh girls, I made these this a.m....yummmyyyyyyy! I had to leave out the
nuts due to picky kids but..theyre still wonderful!
just thought i'd share it with you. I got the recipe from another site.
Chocolate Chip Toffee Bars
2 1/3 cups all purpose flour
2/3 cup packed light brown sugar
3/4 cup softened butter (1 1/2 sticks)
1 egg, slightly beaten
1-12 oz. pkg. semisweet chocolate chips, divided
1 cup chopped nuts (I used walnuts)
1-14 oz. can sweetened condensed milk
1-10 oz. pkg. (1 3/4 cups) Skor English toffee bits, divided (I only
had a 7
or 8 oz. bag and this amount seemed fine. I'm sure more would be even
better!)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 13 x 9 inch baking pan.
Stir flour and brown sugar together. Cut in butter (I used my pastry
blender) until crumbly. Add the egg and mix well. Stir in 1 1/2 cups
chocolate chips and all the nuts.
Reserve 1 1/2 cups of the crumb mixture. Press the rest into the bottom
of
the prepared pan. Bake 10 minutes at 350 degrees. Take from oven and
evenly
pour the sweetened condensed milk over the hot crust. Top with 1 1/2
cups
toffee bits (or all but 1/4 cup if using a smaller bag, like I did).
Sprinkle on the reserved crumb mixture and the remaining 1/2 cup
chocolate
chips.
Bake an additional 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Sprinkle the
remaining 1/4 cup toffee bits on top. Let cool completely before cutting
into bars.
